Sacred

The trip to the British Library to the exhibition, Sacred was very educational and interesting. I’m very glad that the city of London is able to put on a gallery to help people decipher the differences and similarities between the different religions of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Many wars throughout history stem from religion tension and the lack of understanding and acceptance of the opposing religion.
By going to this featured exhibition reinforces my previous notion that many religions are very similar and were created to instill proper moral guidelines for people. Furthermore, I enjoyed how the exhibit showed the 3 displayed religions as having a common practice of a place of holy worship, holy places, life ceremonies, and festivals. Each one also has a form of holy doctrine, which have been revised and written in many different languages until it reached to what it is today. One thing I didn’t know prior to attending is that Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, all share a similar holy city of Jerusalem. For Islam, Jerusalem is not first on the list of holy cities. With Mecca being the holiest followed by the city of Medina.
Although I’m not very religious myself, the sacred texts still had an overwhelming affect on me. I’m able to appreciate and be amazed by the manuscripts and all the pieces on display were absolutely beautiful and well preserved which was very fascinating. The holy doctrines and the lavish colors and artwork featured in the texts were beautiful and extremely important from the time it was created.
Hopefully, education will relieve the religion tensions in the world and this gallery is a step in the right direction to breaking the gap of ignorance of religious fanatics around the world.
