The Riflemaker Gallery

A dreary overcast morning in London allowed the perfect opportunity to visit one of London’s many intriguing art galleries. The Riflemaker Gallery (no correlation to riffles or guns)is located in the Soho section of London. This petite three story gallery showcases several different artists. The featured artist for our outing was John Maeda. Adamantly passionate about intertwining technology and art, John Maeda created fantastic designs with Apple iPods. In an artistic fashion, John Maeda uses ordinary iPods with colorful screen savers to create unique shapes and designs that invites the viewer to consider technology as being art. Although few of John Maeda’s works were on exhibit, Great Britain took notice of the innovating way to combine both the artistic and the scientific world as a form of art nouveau. Technology in our ordinary and daily life can be beautifully crafted masterpieces. This experience awakens the observer to view technology as being artistic. John Maeda’s art stimulates the audience with a style that combines bits of technology in such a way that enables the viewers to walk away thinking technology is art.
