The Vibe Bar

After arriving in London, and settling into our residence located in The Royal Borough of Chelsea and Kensignton, many would find that it does not seem very different that one of California's own little boroughs, San Diego. However, after venturing to the East end, the cultural contrasts are obvious to any traveler. The city is filled with diversity in every corner from the languages spoken on the streets to the food served in the restaurants to the music in the bars. Most importantly, the people contribute to this cultural community. This is particularly apparent at The Vibe Bar. Here, the customers, the music, the atmosphere, and the employees define cultural diversity. As travelers, The Vibe Bar was a perfect place for us to soak up the culture and meet many different types of customers from American tourists to local students to businessmen abroad looking for a good drink and a fun time. The waiters were diverse, as well. One of the waiters working that night was from Spain and spoke broken English, but beautiful Spanish. We were able to engage in a conversation with him with our limited Spanish skills and immediately recognize how different Vibe Bar was from the average American "bar scene." Since Kevin also worked there, Vibe Bar must be interested in hiring semi-permananent travelers to keep the atmosphere new and exciting. This is an uncommon custom in most bars, particularly those found in the United States. The music inside can range from popular songs in America to new artists debuting their work. Vibe Bar truly seems like a hidden treasure within the East end. The outdoor seating with tables pushed together provides an open door invitation for people from all over the world to come in, sit down, and open their eyes to a completely new experience.
