Fugitive Pieces

Fugitive Pieces illuminates the life of a man who lost half of his heart as a boy. While watching Jakob look for the love that would make him feel whole in his memories, his work, and his first wife, Alex, it became obvious that he would need real, passionate, all-consuming love to fill the void in his heart that Nazis viciously ripped out when they killed his parents, and took his sister, Bella. The scene that most encaptured the end of his search was when he was one of his first moments with Makayla. It is said that love is like the wind, you can not see it, but you can feel it. However, I believe you can see the almost instant connection between Jakob and Makayla in their eyes when she serves him lemon tea. Throughout their first meeting, their strong connection was very noticeable, but when she serves him lemon tea, which we learned he loved, even as a child, you just know that he has found exactly what he has been looking for. When he touches her face the first time they kiss, you can almost feel it. Although it is a short kiss, it is filled with more passion than any other experience in his life, whether it was finishing his book or getting married to Alex. After this defining moment, it is as if you watch a weight be lifted off his shoulders and him grasp onto a life that has regained a purpose. His love for Makayla filled his hear and made him a person again. This scene defined the purpose of Jakob's journey and illuminated what had been missing from his life for so long, love.
